It was a great Thanksgiving and birthday weekend. I decided to make a jacket for myself as a bday gift. Beside vintage patterns, I am also obsessed with Japanese sewing patterns. I wanted a loose Japanese style jacket, so I did a google search. I found a pattern by a Spanish designer, Esmeralda Marcos, that was close to what I was looking for. It can be made with a woven or a knit. It is a super easy pattern, only 3 pieces and finished with bias tape. I had a piece of charcoal gray knit fabric in my stash that I had made a skirt out of about 15 years ago. Yes, I still was holding on to it. And, I found a lovely black cloque knit bias tape on Etsy. Here’s the result.
I really like it except that the top of the pockets are too high. I am going to make it out of linen next time and put the pockets lower.
